Life is a stage, and you need to know your script, especially if you would rather not be up there networking in the first place. The script includes your personal story, i.e., who you are, what you are doing and why. It includes a quick overview of your background and your interests. And it includes a broad statement of your goals and objectives. Always keep your story simple and your goals focused. Use everyday language. Your story should NOT sound canned or forced. It should also not sound like an advertisement. Present it in an informative and humble way. Make it part of the conversation and try to make it interesting.
