A LETTER FROM CLAY PARSONS
Greetings,
The financial downturn has turned from a rumble to a roar. The story is a very personal one for so many of us as we seek to adjust to the changing reality of our nation's economy.
The Downturn
As a career counselor and coach serving clients nationwide by telephone, I'm following this crisis with great interest as it affects so many of my clients. With great fanfare, our government is trying to prime the economic pump with large amounts of cash. The question is: will it work and if so when?
My sources, which include some very knowledgeable and experienced economists, say that despite all of the hoopla, this recession must run its course. They point to a turn-around by late 2009 or early 2010. That means we must find a way to ride out the storm rather than look for a quick fix.
Opportunity
These are troubling times, but I strongly believe that job loss can be turned into a career opportunity for people who strive to maintain a positive outlook and seek expert support and guidance to help them navigate to new beginnings.
From finding a new job, developing a new career to solving work related problems, I can help you with whatever career assistance you decide you need. Leave me a phone message or send me an email and sign up for a free consultation.
I encourage you to review my credentials below and look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Clay Parsons, MA, MLA
Principal, Career Counselor and Coach
Alternative FUTURES
My Credentials
I bring more than 35 years of business and professional experience to my work with clients.
I have owned and managed a successful professional consulting firm, served as a special planning consultant to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and worked on major urban development projects for governments throughout the world.
Drawing on my own experience of successfully changing careers, I opened Alternative FUTURES in 1995. My clients come from industry, academia and public service. Some clients come for help in changing their careers; others want assistance in finding meaningful work; others want to solve work related problems.
My academic credentials include an M.A. in career development with an emphasis in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Orinda, California. I also hold an M.L.A. in urban planning and design from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.L.A. in landscape architecture and environmental planning from the State University of New York (SUNY) and Syracuse University.
My Philosophy
My counseling and coaching philosophy is holistic and client-centered. I consider all aspects of your life — vocational, psychological, emotional and spiritual — in the development of your career plan.
I believe you have the ultimate knowledge of yourself. My role is to be your guide, facilitator and mentor. This approach is grounded and practical and shown to produce results in the shortest possible time frame.
